The next time you reach for a sugary snack, stop and think about how you are feeling. People often turn to food in an attempt to comfort themselves or deal with a stressful situation. Recognise that you are looking for something to eat that you think will bring you satisfaction. Sit down and be fully present with the craving. Awareness will often lessen the desire. Maybe you don’t need that slice of cake or bar of chocolate after all, or perhaps you could replace it with something healthier.
